And this blog is nothing more than a running stream of verbal and visual crap.

Great Musical Composers of video-game history: the PS1 era.

Nobuo Uematsu was the man behind all the Final Fantasy video game music of the 90s.

I listened to some of his stuff again this week just to reminisce.

A sample of his work can be heard here in the fight scene against Palmer. As far as video games go, FF7 really stradled a line between all-ages and mature-only. Just in this excerpt alone you see a fair helping of swords, magic, shooting, swearing and cynical views towards the world and the game of romance. This game was my whole world for much of 1997-98.

But i digress. I chose this clip cos it’s one of the best pieces of battle music ever composed and I’m fighting in the Melbourne Open HEMA Sidesword tournament tomorrow.

I also find it comical that there was a bad guy called Palmer who was fat, balding and jiggled and danced around like a loon. But i do have a soft spot for Australia’s Clive Palmer. As much of a comical buffoon as he appears, I respect Palmer bcause his heart was always in the right place. He did get Ralph Babet elected, and he fought some hard honest battles of his own with great charisma and passion.

It’s been a sad and controversial week.
