The Best Month Of The Year Is Here
There is a season for everything and everyone. And the season for the cynical edgelord doomer is truly October. The month of Halloween. Samhain. The month of the harvest (in the northern hemisphere above the tropical zone). Here it is the welcome onset of spring and also the month of my birth. How apt.
In Poland Halloween is All Saints Day. Everyone goes to the cemetery to light candles for their deceased ancestors. In Mexico it’s the Day Of the Dead. All the countries derived from Catholicism, including protestant offshoots, seem to have something with a similar vibe.
Indians, as with everything, get the occassion all wrong. They have Diwali: The Festival Of Light. How about lightening up the stampede of degenerates who you are allowing to flood Australia, Poland and Canada (and up until Trump stopped the H1B scam, the USA). Howbout fixing the cesspit that is the Ganges and going home to make your own country a place worth living in or visiting rather than ruining ours.
Anyway….
Halloween is my holiday. It suits me like a black two-piece outfit and a glass of red suit me. It suits me like a straitjacket suited Dr Lector. It wouldn’t be right for the world otherwise.
My repair-shop uniform is a purple polo. Imagine someone like me dealing with that. It calls to mind Clerks 2. or Grimus. How Grimus must have toiled. I bet he endured alot during his stint as a Maccas mascot.
This is an EP from 1983 by a band called Gotham City. It’s called Black Writs.
I’ve listened to it alot over the last year or more. Possibly because the name so suits the reality of Melbourne right now. The production is haphazard but the playing is earnest, and the full-length album(s) they put out just don’t capture the spirit of the band like this recording does. The cover art is great. It looks like I could’ve drawn it (and I have a fair few drawings like that).
…If you finish that one begging for more underground metal EPs from that year, here’s Hellion, a self-titled work, featuring a rare female-lead: Ann Boleyn.
That’s all there is to say now, but i’ll probably ruminate more on the topic of Halloween for any other posts during this spooky and much-needed month. Arividerchee.
We shall arise again from the deluge of crap that beseiges us!
A good work-life balance is an important thing to have. So when your work uniform is purple, you have to roll with it in the best way you can.
Hail Grimus.\m/
Back to work peasant!
