There’s a theory that Surf Rock and Metal are musically related.

Personally I think there’s something to this. It would probably explain why I liked both the Pixies and Slayer as a teenager. Bridging worlds that fashion and competing musical tribal chieftans dictated shouldn’t really mingle. But now the modern possibilities of digital splicing have proven me justified in my tastes. The new generation gives less of a shit about the cultural wars of the old.

A tumultuous time. Battles pass, wars subside. When peace is concluded the opposing sides reflect on what happened, absorb the trauma and move forward. Inexplicable cultural exhcanges might take place, but also a definitive forking apart.
