A Reasonable Man…

This article has been inspired by an ongoing dispute over an uncollected council waste bin. 3 days, 3 phonecalls. Waiting to see what happens at 3pm. WIll it be resolved or will it lead to a 4th day and a 4th call?

I first heard about the killdozer only a couple of years ago, even though the events took place when I was a news-digesting teenager with the internet at home. It just goes to show what a slow burn to cult status some things can be.

This documentary link to a 9-minute youtube video will summarize the killdozer pretty well, as will other docos and write-ups. I don’t want to waste my time copy-pasting, but all I will say is that it is a talisman of sorts now, and shows what is possible for one man when he chooses to defy oppression and harbours a grudge well. What’s amazing about it was that it was not impulsive, it was quite methodical and brilliantly imaginative. One of those things that ordinary people can point to and go “I can’t do that!”.

But maybe you can, if you BELEIVE.

We salute Marvin Heermeyer and his beloved contraption. A true Robin Hood story. Apart from the fact that he didn’t give anything to the poor and was lucky not to kill anyone, but some say that he consciously chose to avoid killing anyone. So in that sense he sacrificed himself to be an inspiration for the common downtrodden folk.

4th of June, 2004. Remember the day.

Granby, Colorado, USA. Remember the place.

Pay your respects (or argue against it, but im leaning towards the people who say he was a good guy who meant well).

Optional musical accompanyment: Death - Leprosy

If you dont like death metal, you probably wont like this. It was one of the original death metal albums. It’s amazing to think how far we’ve come.

Well we passed the 3pm deadline and no the bin was not collected. More phonecalls and verbal harrassment beckon. This IS a war, and this is how you fight a modern war. Bang bang guns and armies? Oh no good sir/madam, no you are well mistaken…

In the words of an internet wit who’s username i can’t recall:

“the older I get, the more I come to understand this man.”
